I need new graphics cards...

So i need two new graphics cards. for two separate rigs. One being my main gaming computer. The other being my workstation/ the one i'm giving away soon. 

 

So for the main one i was thinking Two MSI GeForce GTX 780 Lighting edition cards for the colour scheme. Thoughts?

 

For the work station i was thinking perhaps a a 2GB GTX 680. Thoughts? 

 

Remember i am giving away the make-shift workstation so i don't want to put a lot more money into it...

What resolution do you play on? why are you giving it away? 3gb 280x would be a great option too but if you really wan't to grab a nividia card I would get a 770

On the main rig i play 5760x1080. 

 

I'm giving it away to a friend.

 

I might go with the 280X i haven't really looked into the new line-up from AMD that's why i was weary.

280X or 290 (either version) gets my vote.

2 amd 290's would perform better at that resolution, especialy considering you (apparently) can flash the bios to a 290x. and they cost $100 less each.

 

Ask your friend if he wants to use nvidia's features (shield, shadowplay, g-sync) if not I would grab a 280x

if u can get a 7970 get one of those and put it in the rig u are selling as for your main rig i would go 780ti x2 or R9 290 x2

The only reason. I mean 100% only reason i was going with the MSI cards is the colour scheme. I'll look into the 290X Cards. Although is there an ETA on the non-reference cards?

I think i want to take a step to the other side of the GPU world for this generation... Maybe a 780Ti/Titan... I'll have to see...

I'd go for the 290/290X for the memory and bus it's packing

I would recommend a 670 with 4Gb. The difference in CUDA cores is minimal between the 670 and the 680 and the extra vram will speed up your working capabilities.

The rig is just going to be for a kid who wants to play his games. He doesn't care about if it lags a little.

well what age is the kid? Is he gonna play demanding games? i mean maybe a 670 for 200 bucks is way over the top. Maybe a 6870 will do just fine.

Kids like between 12-15 i don't know exactly. However he does want to play demanding games i know that much for sure. I'm thinking i'll just get a 670.

I think i'm going to go with a R9 280X for them anyway. I can get a used one for 300 bucks.  almost Bnib. So i don't see much of an issue.
