im planning on getting the corsair air 240 which is a very small case. im wondering if i should use a gtx 1070 founders edition or if i can get by using a 1070 strix. If it only makes my pc a bit louder by using the strix because the insides would be hotter, its fine

Use the Strix as long as you have ample airflow. That case is plenty big enough for open air cards, its only SFF cases that need blower coolers
