SFF Mobo advice please

Go to solution Solved by Zando_,

Welcome to the forums! And what form factor does your case support? It should say whether it's mATX or mITX or any other size.

Hello everyone, this is my first post in the forums. I did a search but couldn't find much. I'd imagine my desired setup isn't the most popular yet.

I'm looking to build a new PC, my first build. I'm going small form factor due to space limitations in my entertainment center. I've already purchased the Cooler Master Elite 130, space wise it is perfect and it matches reasonably enough. The internal volume also seems decent.

I'm going with a GTX 1060 6g and i7 7700k. My question lies with the motherboard; which is a good choice? Much of my "media" will be sent to a 4k TV, although I'll be getting a 1ms monitor in the future, probably just 1080p I'd imagine.

I'd accept any other insight you all may have as well. I will be doing some gaming, photo editing, movies, pretty normal stuff.

Thanks in advance everyone.

Sorry about that, it's a mini-ITX case.

Alrighty. I just Googled it and found that out. You'll need to look for a Z270 mITX mobo then. Just put all your components into PCPartPicker: https://pcpartpicker.com/list/, and then pick a Z270 mobo that fits in your case.

Are there any mobos that stand out among the rest? I've seen a few gripes about some using HDMI 1.4 and perhaps a few using 2.0. Does that even matter? If I do overclock at some point, it'll be mild. I also couldn't care less about color scheme or RGB etc. I would also like to keep it toward the lower price range. Thanks again.

Since you are adding in a video card the display outputs on the motherboard doesn't really matter. Pick anything that suits your budget and required features. Motherboard wise I've always been fond of Asus's offerings, but I'm kind of a fan boy in that regard. Never had bad experiences with them cept aisuite which is unnecessary as everything can be set in bios and should be anyways. They often have the best layouts and good bios support.
