is there a 1080m ?

i saw an msi laptop online (gt73vr 6rf 6820HK) with a 1080 inside. when i called them they said it was a 1080m... is there such a thing ? a "1080m" or is he just saying that its the 1080 in a laptop. all i know is that nvidia never made an "m" series for the 10 series. but i could be wrong. please help

They have no idea. 1080m doesn't exist, it's 1080 with slightly lower clock.

There is no 1080 m variant afaik...

Allthough it could be sth with the max-q thingy from nvidia,but i didn't pay attention to what it exactly is

no, but most laptop 1080s wont reach the same clocks due to temp limits

Correct my if im wrong but I think the ideas behind the m series are aiming for lower power comsumption so less heat to do that they need to lower the clocks which is perfect for laptops. Since 10 series are efficient enough so there are no m version of them

i just contacted their tech support... it seems that they added the M on their own to show that its the laptop model one... as if people didnt know that -.- he apologized and corrected his website typo. its a 1080 FOLKS. thank you
