How likely is damage?

I am new to this whole mining thing and understand that there are risks with the hardware when doing so. I am using nicehash with my EVGA 1080 hybrid.

I am getting temps of 50-58 degrees under load (completely fine for the card) but just wanted to make sure that I am not going to damage anything instantly. I know that if you mine for a few years that it could damage the card, but I am sure that once the 11 series comes out I will get something new anyways.

It causes no more damage to the cards than any other compute intensive task over a similar time frame. So 8 hours of mining is like an 8 hour gaming marathon.

no damage at all, especially with those chilly temps.

you could run your card like that for 20 years and it would be completely fine, assuming the fans hadn't died by then.
