Noisy PC

GM Rod

So!

My PC is the one in my signature.
It's TOO LOUD.

I swapped out all the case fans for the maglev ones by Corsair, partially to try and reduce the noise... NOPE.
When not running games, the GPU fans don't turn on so I know it's not that (but when they do run, ugh it gets WAY louder).
I want a solution where I don't have to change any parts in the PC (because I'm upgrading the GPU soon and that's my budget).
Instead, I want an enclosure (I get this will cost money, maybe more than parts, but this also gives me the benefit of being able to upgrade the PC or even change my case, and still throw the upgraded PC in the enclosure). I want to put my PC in there and SILENCE it. I've seen a few around, but not only is my case quite big (Corsair 760T), I'm also concerned about cooling.
Help?

First, are the fans running at 100% at all times?

No. I have a fan controller in a 5 1/4 bay that tells me they're not.

What are your fan curves?

what RPM are the CPU fans at, and what RPMs are the case fans at (assuming you have case fans that are not for the rad.)

are your fans 3-pin, and is the controller 4-pin.

if so, then your fans might still be running at 100%.

try connecting them to your motherboard and seeing if a curve you set there is more effective.

Display says they're at 1900 RPM (the 3 case fans)
CPU says 1500 RPM (these would be the rad ones)
Everything is 4 pin.

you don't need them that fast. lower them down to 900 RPM or something.

Well I'll be damned. That did it. I feel stupid now. Thank you.

Corsair says that the ML fans have a speed of 400 - 2400 RPM, so you were running them pretty close to max. I'm also a silence freak, and run my fans at the lowest speed they can go when idling. if you lower your fans to 400RPM, or even 600, it should be inaudible.

I personally run my fans at the lowest speed they can spin at (apply more voltage until it starts to spin), and my mom's computer from the other room is much louder. (and hers isn't a loud computer, just not a silent one like mine.)

At full speed my ML fans only reached 1900 RPM in all of my testing. The specifications are BS.

well... at least we know what caused all the noise then. fan noise becomes really loud the closer you get to max.

Particularly with Corsair fans, the motor noise is terrible even with the ML series. They need to run at low speeds to make them bearable.

Bottom fans create most noise. I have bottom fan max 1000 rpm idle, others 1500 rpm.
