Advice on Etherum Mining

Currently I have a r9 270 OC to 1150 core 1515 mem and a i5-6500. Can I have some advice on how to start etherum mining and how profitable will it be for me.

Can't find numbers for the r9 270, but judging by the performance of a 270x, you're gonna have a bad time.

CPU is irrelevant since the MH/s is horrible, regardless of CPU.

possible? yes. Will it have significant gains? No.

The link I provided gives numbers for 24/7 operation. You're literally wasting money if you mine on that card (assuming you pay for electrocity)

Doesn't exist.

The RX 480 is the best card to mine on ( https://www.cryptocompare.com/mining/sapphire/radeon-rx-480-ethereum-mining/ ) and even with that you're looking at $1500 per year, 24/7 operation. Obviously no serious miner is going to mine with one card every now and then.

 

An L3+ Antminer is $1500 with a $9000 yearly return rate.

ASICs suck at mining Ethereum because Eth relies on memory transfers. It uses about 2.4GBs of VRAM whilst running, and sometime this year 2GB GPUs will just not be able to operate with it.

But for the same price as an ASIC you can get a (full) rig with 2 RX 570s, overclock the memory on the cards and then mine with a short ROI time.

short ROI time assuming 24/7 operation. OP was looking at down-time operation (which can mean anything from 1h to 24h/d).

You can literally use the cheapest processor that runs the OS you need. Eth mining is almost exclusively GPU based.

It does cause the core to generate quite a bit of heat, but it's acceptable for the card.
