Hey,

I'm hoping this would be the correct area to post this question!

Here is my dilemma, and I'm hoping that I am just confusing myself, and that there is a KVM switch or some other way to do this!

At work, I have 2 computers that I want to display on their own individual monitor as well as 2 projectors. (so I would in total 4 displays, each computer would be using 3 displays at a time....the other display would be the opposite computer not using the projectors at the time).

Computer 1 (I will need to purchase a new graphics card for this computer, as I know the existing one can't handle more monitors)

- hooked up to its own monitor, as well as Project 1 and Projector 2

Computer 2 (has 2 display ports and 1 VGA port)

- Hooked up to its own monitor as well as Projector 1 and Project 2

Projectors 1 & 2 each have 2 VGA ports on them (you change sources to go from VGA 1 to VGA 2)

One way I have mapped out is by doing the following:

Computer 1

- display port 1 to its own monitor

- display port 2 converted to VGA and plugged into Projector 1 (VGA 1)

- VGA to Projector 2 (VGA 1)

Computer 2 (dependent upon what graphics card I buy so I'll just say VGA to VGA)

- VGA 1 to its own monitor

- VGA 2 to Projector 1 (VGA 2)

- VGA 3 to Projector 2 (VGA 2)

Switching between displays would mean changing inputs on each projector to either VGA 1 or VGA 2 (or a combination of such) and I would still have dedicated monitors for each computer.

Is there a way now to do all this through a KVM switch (I'm assuming you would only use one VGA connector on the Projectors [say VGA 1], thus not having to change inputs on both projectors]???

I really hope I have painted the picture accurately!!!

Thank you for any help, as well as your patience in reading this! :)

Typically you'd use a selector switch.

For example, https://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=9SIA7322R12168&ignorebbr=1&nm_mc=KNC-GoogleMKP-PC&cm_mmc=KNC-GoogleMKP-PC-_-pla-_-Splitters-_-9SIA7322R12168&gclid=CLvKgquKvtQCFZiPswodJlMPyA&gclsrc=aw.ds

If the two projectors are going to display the same content, you'd then use a vga splitter on the output.

So for example,

PC1 (output to monitor) (output2 to selector)

PC2 (output to monitor) (output2 to selector)

selector(output to splitter)

splitter(output to projectors)

If the projectors are not displaying the same content, you'd use a selector per projector (and have to toggle each).
