PS4 as "4K HTPC"

Should work. Saw on a news article that it can play 4K movies off a USB drive.

Apparently the ps4 has HDMI 1.4 which is limited to 4K24 which is fine for 24fps movies but anything above will be capped at that frame rate

If you are going to have a original ps4 as a htpc that should be fine but the original or the slim models of the ps4 do not support 4k or 4k upscaling.  So if you want a 4k projector get a 4k blueray player or a ps4 pro or an xbox one s or X model that they just announced at E3 which supports native 4k (if you're into that sort of thing)  So no an original ps4 will NOT support 4k, its highest resolution is 1080p
