Pc won't turn on.

Right. So I built my own pc just recently. turned it on and the fan starts spinning up, after about 30 sec it stops with some sort of noise, then starts back up and does it over and over. I have absolutely no Idea why it is doing this.

What is the noise like, is it a beep or is it a scratching kida noise?

It's proabably be a dead drive sadly, if its a scratching sound its probably a bad read head, My suggestion would be to take the power out of it (the sata power) then try booting again, if the scratching has stopped then its a bad drive, if it persists get back to me on this thread

ok, there are 2 connectors connected to the hard drive. disconnect the larger connector then try and turn on the computer. if the sound is still there come back and tell me

Then the hard drive is bad. If the computer is new, it should still be warrenty so you need to go and have the computer or the hard drive replaced

I ordered all the parts separate

I have had the whole of the pc for about a month and was just waiting on the ram to get here

then you need to get in contact with the company you bought the hard drive from and say it is faulty and that you need it replaced or refunded

hard drives and most other components usually have a year warrenty so you should be ok to send it back and get a refund

Hey so, my friend had me take off the cpu, the pins on the mount for the cpu, which is on the mobo, are bent in one spot, could this also be a reason? and if so how do I fix it?

I don't think your computer will be able to come back from that...  Unless it's a really old socket with big pins then maybe you can VERY carefully bend it back.

try putting the cpu back, if it works, then its fine, if not, you have broken the socket (which is what you call that) which means you will have to buy another motherboard as this may have voided your warrenty and no, the problem was just the hard drive.
