gold rated 750W or better According to some GamersNexus video i saw some time ago a system with an i7 and rx 580 system would draw max 380W from the wall. Add 250W to that if you dont oc and add another 100w to that to know the PSU you are going to buy. If your system would need 600W for example you should get at least 700W. But hte best thing would be to look at the 12v rail of each PSU you are considering.  Are you sure that an i5 wont bottleneck in the games you play? When i play BF1 on a i5 4690k 4,7Ghz i sometimes also run 100% cpu usage all the time with a single gtx 970

As someone else already said, it's better (and cheaper) to get a 1070 (Two RX480s/580s is only slightly less than a 1080) If you went with one GPU you would be fine with a good 650 watt unit.

BOINC Setup:
i5 7200U @ Stock

Core2Duo T6600 @ Stock

i3 2330M @ Stock

i5 3210M @ Stock

For two RX480s I'd recommend something like an EVGA 650G2. That said, I would never recommend Crossfire or SLI to the average joe. Get a single 1080 Ti for the price you can sell those RX 480s for with Cryptocurrency being on the high it is right now.

My account is almost entirely dormant. Hope you all are having a grand time. Many years of fun were had here.

its really not it dont work like that 700+ gold its whats needed thats the draw on average at any point they could spike to 550watts as a pair and if your cpu spiked as well then your shit out of luck

The measurements of that system was with an overclocked i7-6700k @ 4.7GHz at the wall with an bronze rated 850w PSU. That's around a power draw of 390wDC.

A quality 550w continuous rated power PSU (regardless of efficiency) can comfortably power a system with two RX480 in CFX. If the user want some piece of mind for manufacturing variances and overhead for larger overclocks on the GPU as well, then a 650w PSU would be good as well. You don't have to get an 700-800w Gold PSU for such a setup.
