Yes you are correct.

It won;t cause any issues, you control both of them as one fan basically.

Can I connect two 4-pin PWM fans to one 4-pin PWM header on my motherboard using a 4-pin Y-splitter.

 

Is this ok?

Are there any drawbacks of doing this, and will it cause any problems?

 

I know that I won't be able to control the fan speed for each one individually, but I should still be able to control them both together, is that correct?

 

 

Any thoughts on this would be appreciated...

Depends on the fan. With 99% of fans, you should be fine.

I know this was answered but try this splitter...the sensor pin is removed from one of them and your PWM fans will run at the same speed (as long as you are using same fans). If you are using different fans, they will run at the same percentage (ie 10%...20%) of the fan speeds.
