Hi. Im starting my computer engineering studies at the end of summer.

Was thinking about swapping out my 4 year old macbook pro with a cheap laptop that i can bring to lectures, take notes and do some light programming with.

( Have a dated but decent gaming rig i can do heavier stuff on)

Does anyone have experience with the Chrome OS and programming on it?

Yeah, thats a nice solution. I heard the Chrome OS is based on Linux though, you know how different it is from the real deal?

it runs literally only chrome. if the stuff you're using isn't web based, and you're unable to connect to the internet, it's a paperweight.

Ryzen 5 3600 stock | 2x16GB C13 3200MHz (AFR) | GTX 760 (Sold the VII)| ASUS Prime X570-P | 6TB WD Gold (128MB Cache, 2017)

Samsung 850 EVO 240 GB

138 is a good number.

Put Windows 10 or Ubuntu on it.

Ubuntu is better option for developers.

very different, tbh it's much easier to install unbuntu and then install your programming utilities
