Xim4 Legit?

Hey folks, before I splash £133 on a bad mouse keyboard emulator anyone got one I'm seeing rave reviews but am concerned about input lag etc.

 

background: all my failure work mates keep on at me to get onto ps4 to play r6 siege, destiny, division etc. all of which imo are far better on pc, xim 4 best of both worlds play with pc peripherals on ps4?

 

please lets keep the pc vs console flamewar out of at least the first 10 posts.. i know .. i know.

Yes and no, key commander IIRC is dedicated hardware, this appears to be able to "in realtime" translate any "gaming grade" mouse and keyboard to ps4.

Whilst I'm sure it would feel like cheating use a mouse/keyboard vs console pad in overwatch etc.. is there anything in the EULA and could they detect this?

From the quick look I took at it, I couldn't figure out what on earth it's supposed to do. And isn't this dedicated hardware? And the KeyCommander does the same thing this claims to. You plug it into your computer and download the program thingy for PS4, load it up, then plug it tint the PS4 and hook up your keyboard and mouse to it, and it works. JayzTwoCents did a video on it and was really happy with it, if I remember correctly.

idk but if microsoft and sony havent made keyboard and mouse inputs available its for a reason i suppose

If you're a competitive game using this in a competition or to improve your rank, it'd be cheating. If you just want to have a blast with your mates on the weekend, I see no reason not to.

They don't think many people will use them? Or they want to sell their controllers.

I was looking into the XIM4 a while back, and I got the impression it was a legit, working product. There's plenty of videos on YouTube demonstrating its use. But will it get you banned from multiplayer titles? That's a tricky question. Some developers don't like them being used. A few months ago, Jeff Kaplan from Overwatch posted:

 

“We have contacted both first-party console manufacturers and expressed our concern about the use of mouse and keyboard and input conversion devices. We have lobbied and will continue to lobby for first-party console manufacturers to either disallow mouse and keyboard and input conversion devices or openly and easily support mouse and keyboard for all players."

 

However, this implies to me that Blizzard won't ban you for using one (or possibly, they're unable to tell if you're using one). Personally, I don't know if I'd risk using one for multiplayer games. I really despise controllers, so if I ever did get around to buying a PS4 for some of the single-player exclusives I might give something like the XIM4 a try to make the experience more enjoyable.
