I have a ok PC right now can play games at 1080p 60fps fine but. I want to make a New Gaming PC but as you know 4K is not really their yet on running on 1 GPU and I will not go SLI to manny downsides in my opinion. I am looking at building a 1440p 144hz Build but 4K is close to being run on 1 GPU and I don't want to drop $3000 on 1440p and then upgrade to 4K in a few months. Also have been looking at new 4k 144hz HDR displays and yes I know it will cost a shit load but I am willing to pay more for 4k because if will last longer than 1440p. But that being said as of right now no one GPU can run 4K max setting 60+FPS on all games. And even if 4K GPUs come out its not going to be able to push more than say 60-75FPS. If you were in my boat what would you do wait for 4k or just build 1440p 144hz? Thanks for help people.

I would build an all out 4K build and not upgrade for a long time.  I would get two 1080 Tis and a high end processor(R7 1700, I run two with a 6850K just fine at 4K). I know you said no SLI but there are really not many issues at all; there used to be TONS of issues a long long time ago. For you, the best 4K build right now IMO would be to mimic my system(in signature) but choose the case of your choice.

Civ 5, Rocket League, Battlefield 1, GTA V, CS:GO, Project Reality.  Those are my main games.

I run them all @ 4K 60 FPS with some settings turned down on BF1 and GTA V, but nothing major.
