Looking for an Intel equivalent to the Ryzen 1500X for under $250 w/mobo.

I'm building a gaming PC and I'm trying to decide on the CPU. It looks like the Ryzen R5 1500X is the best quad core, 8 thread CPU for under $200 with the motherboard costing only $60. I'm willing to purchase an older 4c/8t Intel if there is one with comparable or slightly worse performance for under $250 shipped for the CPU and motherboard. Any suggestions or ideas? Should I be looking for a used CPU to get under that price point? Thanks!

EDIT: Also if you can think of a Xeon equivalent that would work also. I have access to a lot of server parts so I don't mind building a PC with a Xeon.

4790k/4770k is around 1500x iirc

Ryzen 5 3600 stock | 2x16GB C13 3200MHz (AFR) | GTX 760 (Sold the VII)| ASUS Prime X570-P | 6TB WD Gold (128MB Cache, 2017)

Samsung 850 EVO 240 GB

138 is a good number.

Why do you need an Intel based system? Ryzen probably has the best performance at this price point.

I don't need one, I was just making sure I was getting the best performance for the price. I don't know a lot about Intel so I created this thread to make sure I didn't miss something. :)

Nope, don't need Intel. I just want to make sure I wasn't passing up a better CPU because of my fanboyism. :D

Oh wow, and this will let me use the 16GB of DDR3 I have sitting around instead of me needing to buy more DDR4... I'll weigh out the pros and cons before I pull the trigger on another Ryzen build. :D

Yeah but getting the same performance for $20 less is more appealing for me.
