Hi guys, im planning to buy surface RT during this black friday sale for 200$, however, within days of research, i observed many unsatisfied reviews and reaction about surface rt. Is it really worth 200$ for surface RT?
Im high school junior majoring architecture, objective for this surface is to finish or polish unfinished office works (ex. essays) and some entertainment like games.
200$ for Surface RT seems really good deal to me.
But I could wait until December save some money and purchase Surface 2 instead.
What do you guys prefer?
I do want surface ASAP since i am going field trip soon but i wont be able to bring if im planning to buy surface 2.

Do yourself a favour and don't buy old hardware when new is available. The Surface 2 is much faster, has a better screen, a better kickstand, a faster USB 3 port, and comes natively with Windows 8.1 compared to the old Surface RT.

You may need the tablet ASAP, but once "ASAP" is not a priority anymore, you will regret not getting the better hardware I can almost guarantee you.

if i buy surface 2, i can not purchase type or touch cover, do you think this will affect my productivity as well as usage?

Since you also need it for productivity you definitely need a keyboard. It's difficult to be productive on the on-screen keyboard I'm afraid. But tbh it sound to me more like you need a small laptop than a tablet. I know Asus had a really good value Windows 8 laptop model with a touch screen not so long ago.

Otherwise, you might want to take a look at the Asus T100 hybrid tablet. It comes with a keyboard dock, full Windows 8.1 and is really inexpensive.
