Not really sure how to demonstrate this, but I get normal ping (18ms) but then every so often the ping will go extremely high. I've had three Wifi adapters over the last few years, but always seems to come back to this eventually on this PC. Doesn't happen on my other Devices (Surface, Samsung S7). I use an external Wifi adapter as my motherboard doesn't have it built in. I use the ASUS USB-AC56.

Thanks for your help,

Happy to provide additional info as necessary.

How far is your router from your computer?

Well wireless is not meant for gaming with a low ping (which is what I'm assuming you're doing). To have a very good wireless connection with low ping you need both a really good router and a good receiver. Even then don't expect to have wired connection results. Its different for handheld devices and a computer with a wireless adapter. Also, is your adapter connected on a USB 3.0 to ensure its running at its best? Maybe a PCIe adapter would work better for you.

CASE: Thermaltake Armor Plus

MOBO: EVGA X79 FTW

CPU: Intel Core i7-3820 CPU

GPU: EVGA GTX 1080

RAM: Corsair Vengance DDR3 16GB

SSD: Samsung 850 PRO

HDD: VelociRaptor 300GB

Cooling: Kraken X60

I have issues to the point where VoIP is cutting in & out (Discord & Skype), it surely should be able to deal with VoIP services like them, even over wireless (And yes, I have it plugged into a USB3 port)

I used to play battlefield 4 and randomly would have your problem. Turns out it was just steam trying to download a game while I was playing. There's a good chance it's the same for you.

Happens with Steam both open & closed sadly, seems to be no matter what programs I have open :'(

Mhm. I'm having some issues on an old laptop myself. It's likely the device itself, but you can ping your router from the problem computer to try and isolate the problem. In my case, it's a bit of a driver issue. There are no real compatible drivers for Windows 10, so the driver intermittently fails and restarts which results in latency spikes.

A normal ping should be about  1-3ms to the router. Your other devices don't have any problems going from the same location as the desktop?

Yeah, I have several devices here that do work correctly, just this PC doesn't...

Having issues with a Corsair AIO? Possible fix here:

Spoiler

Are you getting weird fan behavior, speed fluctuations, and/or other issues with Link?

Are you running AIDA64, HWinfo, CAM, or HWmonitor? (ASUS suite & other monitoring software often have the same issue.)

Corsair Link has problems with some monitoring software so you may have to change some settings to get them to work smoothly.

-For AIDA64: First make sure you have the newest update installed, then, go to Preferences>Stability and make sure the "Corsair Link sensor support" box is checked and make sure the "Asetek LC sensor support" box is UNchecked.

-For HWinfo: manually disable all monitoring of the AIO sensors/components.

-For others: Disable any monitoring of Corsair AIO sensors.

That should fix the fan issue for some Corsair AIOs (H80i GT/v2, H110i GTX/H115i, H100i GTX and others made by Asetek). The problem is bad coding in Link that fights for AIO control with other programs. You can test if this worked by setting the fan speed in Link to 100%, if it doesn't fluctuate you are set and can change the curve to whatever. If that doesn't work or you're still having other issues then you probably still have a monitoring software interfering with the AIO/Link communications, find what it is and disable it.
