Onscreen recording?

Pt. 1

Hi, I am currently using OBS but the problem is either I lag when using it in a competitive game or get dips which are really not great in a game like CS:GO. I am wondering I have lots of expansion slots on my MOBO is it worth getting a PCIE Screen capture device like an Elgato.

Pt. 2

I have looked at OBS vs ElgatoHD60 and for some reason the picture quality looks a lot better on OBS - why is this, I know that Elgato uses the encoder H.264 but so does OBS.

 

Pt.3

Would you be able to change to H.265 with a PCIE device e.g. Elgato or is that hard installed?

1. Elgato require 2nd computer to operate

2. Raise the quality on obs if you want better quality, higher bit rate, higher resolution, etc.

3. elgato doesn't support h.265, and I don't think anything does, you convert it after you record it.

 

also, elgato still requires 2nd computer to operate and fast processor since it doesn't have hardware acceleration on it's own, recommended processor is an i5 btw.

I have a i5 4690k and although the lag isn't terrible it appears to drop in the worst situations which is really annoying. Thanks for the Elgato information - that's off the table. Does OBS support H.265?
