Please help me decide what to upgrade to. My RX470 reference is throttling while playing Andromeda, Watch Dogs 2 on High settings. I am from India, my budget is 20,500 INR (Max!)

I am stumped by a few factors. 3gb 1060, high price of 6gb 1060. Amd Vega price/release date delay in this price segment or near. Plus to make things worse Govt. is adding GST extra taxation that will make PC things even costlier in India, or so I've been told. As if they weren't costly enough to begin with.

My initial thoughts were gtx 1060 6gb/rx 580 4gb. Gtx 1060 is slowly edging out of range (price/availability of 6gb version). If I hold out things might get even worse because of a new tax system for desktops. Fellow countrymen are welcome to suggest also (online shops etc. for a good deal)

I don't see how the the 1060 is worth the upgrade from the 470 since they are in the same tier. I wouldn't spend money on a new gfx card just for a a few extra 5 or so frames.

Have you tried setting the fan speed to MAX on the 470. Also maybe run the card at stock setting since it seams that you OCed the 470.

Have you tried to figure out any ways to lower the temps in your case? Maybe leave the side panel open.

There are reports out there that you can flash the 470 to a 570 with ati flasher, which to me eliminates the option to buy a new rad eon gpu.

If you really have to, the 3gb 1060 is only like 3-5% slow then the 6gb.

My card is factory overclocked with a reference blower design. Not good. Temps are peaking at 82c or so. I've got a few doubts abt. the boost of this Sapphire 'platinum edition' card too. I didn't know that while buying, unfortunately. 3gb may create problems as textures are getting more and more Vram intensive (look at RE7).

1060 3gb would be a downgrade, and unless youre going for a 1070 it isnt worth it. just stick with it until you have more money

I'm not playing beyond 1080p anytime even in the distant future. Recently Asus and MSI Rx580 came within my range.

Hmmm. Minimum FPS are smooth on the newer RXs?

Perhaps I could increase the fan speed of my RX470, my case has case fans side (intake), front(intake), back(exhaust) and upper panel (exhaust). I've been thinking abt AIO Coolermaster Masterliquid lite (I'm not sure how to configure/install it though)...although I am not quite sure how much that would lower the total temps in the case and how much that would improve gaming performance, if at all it is a thermal throttling issue.

My enthusiast friend has tweaked the fan speeds a bit. First he tried with Sapphire Strixx, when he applied the setting (just fan speed) the display went off! Restarted okay. Didn't try that again, tried with MSI Afterburner, working okay so far, temps down to 68 on load (Watch Dogs 2, Andromeda) performance improved a bit. Fan makes a LOT of noise:/ though.
