Sooo... I was just watching some YouTube videos in bed when my laptop suddenly shut off. I tried to power it on again, it just immediately shut off once again. Then the smell of burning electronics hit me... I immediately took the battery out of my laptop. I took off the back panel and removed the CPU/GPU heatsink. Unfortunately, the CPU is embedded into the motherboard so I suspect it would be a costly repair. I then noticed the strong charred electronics smell was coming from the CPU... Upon further inspection, it seems some little transistors or something under the CPU (image below) were fried  and covered in black char. I cleaned off the CPU dye with some rubbing alcohol and didn't see any noticeable damage on the dye itself, just underneath it. I thought I couldn't damage it any more than it already was so for the hell of it I reapplied some thermal paste and the heatsink and powered it up. To my shock, it turned on, however there is a noticeable burning smell blowing out of the fan, although this might just be lingering inside the laptop) and the fan was revving up to full speed instantly upon turning on. I decided it was best to turn it off and take out the battery. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
