Alright, well the R9 280x definitely looks like the way to go :)... Especially since it's on-par with the 770. The $10 extra for the Asus edition will definitely be worth it since the shipping will be cheaper (it weighs less). 

 

I'm not too interested in G-Sync seeing as I don't want a new monitor, and MSI Afterburner works about the same or better than shadowplay (when recording).

However the CUDA is the main reason I was looking to buy a 760...

Does anyone know what the OpenCL performance is like for the 280x?

Open cl is much better on amd cards than nvidia cards. Shadowplay will be supporting twitch streaming in the future and on 460 afterburner lags the crap out of it.

Yeah Nvidia is bad with opencl, but I want to know how the 280x performs with openCL (as it can be used as an alternative to CUDA in some programs for gpu calculations). My 5970 is a beast at openCL, so I want to know how bad the decrease in openCL performance will be :) Twitch streaming isn't really a compelling reason to buy a graphics card in my opinion :P

I use a Lenovo T440: i5 4300U, 8GB RAM, 128GB Samsung 840 Evo, 14" 900p display and an external 23" 1080p passive 3D monitor. Extended 6-cell battery with internal 3-cell. Ubuntu 14.04 LTS (I only use open-source software -- haven't paid for a single program yet).

For the titan to max its memory it would need a serious OC and I mean out of the reach of most peoples systems to do so and i never said a 780ti couldn't i just said that was part of the reason they put 3GB in and didint keep the 6GB

280x should out preform it to equal the 5970 in open cl.

It's on average 30% faster than CUDA in the same Adobe applications, as for Compute performance it's likely significantly faster than your 5970.
