Hello to you all,

My friend gave me his laptop and it has two graphics card, one with the processor (Intel Pentium P6100 2.00ghz) and an integrated one (ATI/AMD Mobility Radeon 5470 512MB) and it currently has 2GB of RAM.

I installed Windows 10 (It came with Windows 7 Home Premium originally) and whenever i try to install the integrated graphics driver (ATI/AMD Mobility Radeon 5470) i get a BSOD with "VIDEO TDR FAILURE atikmpag.sys".

At first browsing through all the forums i thought it was fried but then i heard of a "Switchable Graphics Mode" in the bios, that why i said that i updated the bios, but i don't see any options in the bios that say that... (this BSOD persists still before and after updating the bios). I wanted to switch to the ATI graphics card or if it was possible use both, i know i can do that on the catalyst control center, but as i said i cannot do it, because every time i try to install the driver i get a BSOD. this doesn't happen when installing the intel hd graphics.

what do you guys think? i wasn't going to play on this laptop, i just needed a laptop for school work and stuff, planning to put an SSD later. I don't have a recovery image partition on the hard disk, he gave me his laptop because the hard drive presented bad sectors and it makes clicking noises :/ i'm using an external drive with Windows To Go, Made it with Rufus.

It's an HP G62 b00 product number: XU607EA#AB9 serial number:4CZ0381NBK

Greetings from Portugal btw xD

I don't think Windows likes booting from an external drive. I'd go by your local tech store and get the cheapest spinning drive to replace the broken one with. Eliminating any possible problems will help narrow down the issue.
