Ok to start off i posted a while back about this have made a bunch of changes and still need advice now as some things have changed.

to start off here is the pcpartpicker link for reference!

http://ca.pcpartpicker.com/user/Silyputy/saved/2Gj1

Things i need to say:

1. The fans are not what im going to use im going to get 3 corsair AF blue led fans instead. I kept the old ones there for the sake of the cost being added.

2. I had a GPU but removed it because i dont know if i want the 290x or the 780ti. (By that i mean do i need the 780ti becuase i know it will outdo the 290x but dont know if i will use all the power it offers.)

3. The 2 HDD's im planing to run in a RAID 1 setup, with the SSD as a boot drive.

4. I still need to pick out a keyboard and mouse. (if anyone knows where i can go test out different mechanical switches (blue, black, green, brown ext) please let me know as i dont know what kind of switch i will like.)

5. My theme for the build is the colour blue, so looking to add some LED's inside and outside of the case. If the keyboard can have a blue led back-light that would be a plus.

6. if anyone see's any compatibility problems please let me know this is my first build and its quite possible i missed something.

If you need any other info please ask and ill let you know.

Planing to order everything on boxing day to save some money because why not.

Thanks in advance!

-Zac

The 290 (non-reference cooler) is probably the best option for 1080p, but I guess the 780TI should keep you going a bit longer for future titles.

I wouldn't use AF fans in an R4, that's counterproductive. Look for a coolermaster switch sampler, if you buy one for 10$, you get 10$ off if you buy a keyboard from them. You can use an NZXT huehuehue, Bitfenix alchemy strips, or Logisys sunlight sticks (non inverted version).

First can i ask how it is counter productive?  Second ill go take a look at the lights you recommended. Thanks!

What im planing to do it gaming, and video editing and recording that is why i picked the 4770k. Well that and 16gb's of ram over 8 for a mainly gaming build.

Looks like a solid rig but do you the money to drop the close to 2300 it's gonna be for the pc and fill a library of games to play? If not opt for a 290 non reference and get games otherwise go balls to the wall with the 780ti!

May I please have an image signature?

Yea i have the money for the build. What i might do is hold off till the sale starts and see how much the 780ti is vs the 290x or 290. Then get the better one. Or pair. As for the games not planing to buy all the big titles that second will get the slowly as i get board of the last. That and i play Starcraft2 so that will take a lot of my time up when i dont lag. :P

Only reason im holding off till a sale (id guess boxing day) is that its about a month away and for saving id guess a minimum of a few hundred bucks it could be worth it. That and i still need to make up my mind on a few parts.

The 290x will be good for the average gamer but due to nividia's shadow play it'll beat out any other recording program at there. But do wait for the after market version of the 780ti for better performance and cooling. Plus no performance lost with shadow play :D

i know that their was a version with an after market cooler on the card. had two fans not one and looked a lot different. My plan was to get that one if i get the 780ti.

It's a silence optimized case designed to be quiet. The AF fans are not quiet. I have mine with the top moduvents on and all Fractal fans, I can hear myself breathe over it.

ahh i see. My plan was to run them at a lower rpm to try and cut sound down. Also main point for them was they are blue and will keep everything nice and cool. If i could find one that was just as good quality and still blue i would be ok with that for sure. I know coolermaster makes some but also heard they are not the best fans or near to the best.

Are you editing professionally or just gameplay videos? Do you make money doing it?

The Fractal Design Silent Series R2 fans have white blades. With blue lighting as has been suggested you should get a very nice blue effect on the fan blades. Plus they are good fans.

I don't think the Thermaltake AIO will fit very easily in the top of the case. There is 60mm clearance to the edge of the motherboard and the AIO with fans is 63.3mm. I'd suggest using an H80i mounted in the rear exhaust and moving the rear fan to the front. If I recall correctly the pump has a blue led logo on its top.

80+ ratings certify electrical efficiency. Not quality.

Mainly game play as of right now. i also record when i paintball and ill be editing that also. If it matters that is mostly recorded at 1080p at 60fps.

290 beats the ti by a long shot is price to performance i know that for sure.

blue led fans or if i cant i can just add led's near them that might also work. Not sure never done anything like it.

Will it effect air flow if i put the H80i on the back of my case vs the top?

It will have an affect on the total amount of air flowing out of the case. This should not be an issue, but if it is one of the top vents could be opened and fanned.

ah ok then i should be ok i can just add fans to the top also. maybe ill look at some quiet ones and then just add some led's somewhere near them to give the effect. but they would still be good quality and quiet.

No idea if that will work, any guess if that might or might not work?

Putting it on top vs the back doesn't really make a difference in airflow. Just do whichever looks better.

Are you waiting for the aftermarket 290's?

wowa full new build lol. Do you think the 280x will be enough for me? Also never used a AMD CPU, any comments i know people who swear by them and some who swear against.

It's enough to max out most games at 1080p.

As for the 8350. It games like the i5 but has more cores for editing and streaming.

ok cool. As far as that cpu why do people even use intel i must be missing something the i7 4770k has 4 cores that run at like 3.5 GHz. The 8350 has 8 cores at 4GHz so i dont get how intel does not get crushed. i picked the 4770k because i know a few people who have them and love them.

Not all cores are the same. Core clock is not enough to determine the processing power.

Just like how not all wheels are not the same and how the number or rotations are not enough to tell how fast you go.

The 4770k is great but is hardly worth the money for gaming.
