You can already saturate a SATA interface with a bog-standard SATA connector from your motherboard. Asuming you have an SSD that can keep up of course.

Well yes, but you will be wasting money on the adapter to get the exact same performance you already have

you could also buy a m.2 to pcie adaptor if you want to have maximum performance
