Hello

In the last few days I checked out many different components and I think I finally decided what I should get. The build will be used for some gaming and light content creation as well as doing school stuff. I already planned the switch from a laptop to a desktop for a while so I already have a monitor, a keyboard and a wired internet connection. :) I can probably order the missing parts next week.

These are the parts for the build:

CPU: Ryzen 5 1600 - about 216€ (This CPU is amazing)

CPU Cooler: Stock cooler

GPU: RX 570 - about 200€ (I still don't know which model, mabye I even end up buying a RX 580 4Gb)

RAM: 2x8GB Crucial Ballistix Sport LT white - about 44€ for each stick (I already bought this memory since it was on sale)

Motherboard: ASRock AB350 Pro 4 - about 93€ (Choosing a motherboard was very difficult for me, I'm still open for other suggestions)

SSD: I already own a Samsung 750 EVO

HDD: WD blue 1TB - about 45€

Case: Fractal Design Define S - about 70€ (I already bought this case since it was on sale)

PSU: Seasonic Prime Gold 650W - about 105€ (I want a quality PSU, don't tell me that a cheaper one would work as well)

Fan: be quiet! Pure Wings 2 140mm PWM - about 10€ (I wanted to have some additional cooling so I orderd this fan toghether with the case)

Total price would be about 827€ (not including the SSD I'm already using in my laptop and the operating system I have to buy).

Personally I think this build will look decent as well since cable management in the Define S is easy and I will probably add a Cryorig H7 in the future. This cooler will the black and white color scheme I have because of the ASRock board, the white RAM, the Define S and maybe even the graphics card if I pick up the MSI RX 570 armor. And I will upgrade to 16GB soon.

Update: I bought a second stick of RAM because it was still on sale.

Update 2: I bought an ASUS Prime X370-Pro because it was on sale.

Update 3: I have bought everything except the GPU. I'll use an old GPU I've borrowed from a friend. Hope it works. xD I'll probably buy a GTX 1060 later. Not having a good GPU is not a big problem since I will be able to edit the video we have filmed some month ago. Another future upgrade will be a better CPU cooer even though the stock cooler AMD provides with their R5 1600 is already a decent cooler.

Might wanna do 16GB RAM for the content creation bit, so if you haven't ordered the RAM get 1 8GB or 2 8GB

We have a NEW and GLORIOUSER-ER-ER PSU Tier List Now. (dammit @LukeSavenije stop coming up with new ones)

You can check out the old one that gave joy to so many across the land here

1. Any cheap b350 mobo would do

2. See if Seagate Barracuda is cheaper,  equally good

3. The quality you are getting fron a Prime unit is not something you would able to notice unless you spend on an expensive PSU testing unit or at very least open up PSU and look what's inside it. Just get a Corsair CX450M instead for cheaper or Seasonic M12II if you want full modular cables, I think @Energycore would agree too since he is here

4. I would try to spend a bit even for a 580 4gb, else see how much a 480 costs, it should still be bit faster

Well I don't want to steer people away from buying amazing PSUs :P

But you're right that an M12II or a CXM or a B3 would do the job just as well.

Forgot to mention this, I'll add it to my post. I want to upgrade to 16GB soon. But for now I will just use the 8GBs I've already bought.

well if with the money he saved from psu to upgrade 570 to a 580 then i think it's worth it imo, besides they all have a 5year warranty and by that time his pc could have been obsolete maybe

Yeah I already have some knowledge aboug PSUs as well I I often recommend the CXM (gray label) and the Seasonic S12 II. I already planned some builds for family and friends and 2 of those feature Seasonic M12 II Evo PSUs. But I appreciate the longer life span I expect from the Prime Gold and the 80+ Gold rating is nice to have as well.

Maybe the CPU or GPU is obsolete in 5 years but I can still use the PSU for my next builds. But I understand your point. The thing is that I don't have a strict budget. I want to spend about 800€. Maybe I'll get a RX 580.

Thats my play. And if I need a new PSU after upgrading because there are new connectors or something like that I will just use it together with my R5 1600 as a server.

Why would you downgrade that PSU? If I were downgrading I might get This instead

I don't want to get a lower quality PSU. The PSU isn't a variable in my build.

Don't be pessimist to your chosen PSU, just keep to that choice and YOU will be thankful to your feelings
