Worth upgrading cpus

Right now I have an i3-4170, gtx 10603gb, 1tb hard drive, 8gb ram. I see quite a few fps drops and just not the performance i would of hoped for. Is it worth upgrading the i3-4170 to an i5-4670k? I am planning on getting a new hard drive too with faster speeds because I think my current one is dying.

I have both, no its not really worth it unless you get it for $50

 

An ssd is a better upgrade.

If you can buy it for that cheap that yeah get the i5. That cpu is OK for 1080p gaming, and you have a 3GB gpu so I assume you are playing at 1080p.

OK I might get the i5 4670k, i5 4690k or the i7 4790 (non k). It all depends on how much extra money I have.

I wouldn't pay more than $50 for a new cpu.  Any more than that and you're better off buying an ssd instead

If you have the money to buy both an ssd and a new CPU, buy a new ssd.

 

If you have the money to buy one or the other, buy an ssd if the CPU costs more than $50.  

 

If you can get a 4670k for $50 or less, buy a CPU.  Then buy an ssd.

 

I would not spend more than $50 on a CPU to upgrade that system, regardless of how much money you have.
