Price to performance comparison

Wylisc

The following is a few system and I was wondering which would be the best to pick up. If I want to replace the cpu I'd pretty much have to replace the mobo as well. But adding storage and ram would be easy.

First System - $1099
Processor: Intel Core 7th Generation i5-7400 Processor (Quad Core, up to 3.50 GHz, 6M Cache, 65W)
Windows 10 Pro
1 TB SATA Hard Drive (7200 RPM)
16GB DDR4 Non-ECC UDIMM 2400MHz (1X16GB)
NVDIA GeForce GTX 1080 8GB GDDR5X

Second - $1249
Processor: Intel Core 7th Generation i7-7700K Processor (Quad Core, up to 4.50 GHz, 8MB Cache, 91W)
Windows 10 Home 64bit English
1 TB SATA Hard Drive (7200 RPM)
16GB HyperX® FURY DDR4 XMP 2667MHz (1X16GB)
Tray load DVD Drive (Reads and Writes to DVD/CD)
NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1070 8GB GDDR5

Third - $1189
Processor: Intel Core 6th Generation i7-6700 Processor (Quad Core, up to 4.0 GHz, 8M Cache, 65W)
Windows 10 Home 64bit English
1 TB SATA Hard Drive (7200 RPM)
256GB PCIe NVMe Drive
16GB DDR4 Non- ECC 2133MHz (1x16GB)
NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1070 8GB GDDR5

Fourth - $1299
Processor: Intel Core 7th Generation i7-7700K Processor (Quad Core, up to 4.50 GHz, 8MB Cache, 91W)
Windows 10 Home 64bit English
1 TB SATA Hard Drive (7200 RPM)
16GB HyperX® FURY DDR4 XMP 2667MHz (1X16GB)
NVDIA GeForce GTX 1080 8GB GDDR5X

None of them. You'd need to switch out the CPU for a Ryzen 5 or 7, as they are currently the best price-to-perfromance CPUs out there.

EDIT: If you don't want to switch out the mobo, then I'd say to get a 7700K with a 1080. Definitely don't get Windows 10 Pro, as it has no features gamers need.

They are all pre-built. Do you think I could build something with similar performance for less?

We could build you a better system for around $1300. Let me get on PCPartPicker and I'll get back to you.

It's a bit more expensive ($1345, and then just get a cheap Win10 key off of Kinguin), but has better components than most prebuilts I've seen. Do you have links to the computers so I can see what I'm up against?

The $1299 build has better specs then both of them... and they're similarly priced

My buddy is handling it so I'm not sure he just gave me these as options so I'd figured I'd see which is best. this ryzen 7 build is interesting but in the end will cost me about $100 or so more and that's not including tax and 1300 is pretty much my limit including windows.

Hhhmmm. Then I'd advise building your own and upgrading it later. Unless the prebuilts use off the shelf components, in which case they would be better. Though most prebuilts will cheap out on the cooler, have a proprietary mobo, a not-very-upgradable case, etc. And none of them have an SSD.

better proc/gpu maybe but ive faster ram and a m.2. drive   gaming difference on a i5 7600 vs i7 7700 is negligible for the price and you could go with a cheaper case .. I just have that one cause its a easy one to work in, good airflow and has the space for watercooling if you wanna delve into that anytime
