Do you think that I could run modern games (mainly destiny 2, which will have similar requirements as mass effect andromeda) with a nvidia gtx 1050 (or 1050 ti), 8gb RAM (I can upgrade to 12gb if I need to), and an intel core i3 5015u? By the way I have a laptop with an external GPU. I don't mind when the frame rate drops below 30. For me anything above 20 fps is playable.

Probably. The 1050 Ti can handle AAA games if you lower the settings a bit. And good choice of a game!

i would get the rx 570, they outperform the 1050ti by way far you won't be able to play many games with medium setting with the 1050 ti  as you would with the rx 570, I have the rx 480 and it performs about the same as a rx 570: i can play many games custum medium/ultra at 4k, and mostly ultra with out the anti-aliasing in most games, I do suggest getting more GDDR5 ram though

The 1050 ti  and i3 will handle all games if you loewr the settings a bit. The 8gb might not be aable to run games like bf1
