so i should i just go for the 1600?

Yes, go with the 1600.

The only reason one might go with a 1600x is if they're not overclocking because it comes with a higher frequency out of the box. However, it really isn't worth the extra money for that from a value standpoint. The 1600 comes with a cooler and is significantly cheaper and on top of all that, it can achieve the exact same overclocking results as the 1600x (I've tested that myself).

I personally will just buy 1600, unless you plan to overclock it, maybe.

i also planning to build a ryzen pc soon, for the cpu i already fixed on 1600. Just waiting for ITX boards to show up.

1600 and 1600x are both overclockable and reach almost same speed

Yes. All Ryzen CPUs are unlocked and can be overclocked given you have a B350 or X370 motherboard.

Im on a very tight budget (around $950) and im not sure if the 1600x plus a cooler is worth the extra $75 over just the regular 1600. Thanks.

Dude, you don't need this beast for these games (gtx 1070 and a hexa core cpu), even gtx 1050 ti would be enough.A better PSU would be great, does anyone pay attention to this?

If ur only playing esports games then get a pentium g4620 and a rx 550 or a gt 1030. If u wanna play some demanding games like doom and the witcher get a r5 1600 and a rx 580. That's what I'm getting.

You just went for the most expensive thing ever :) For esports games a pentium g4560 and gtx 1050 ti/rx 570 would be more than enough (assuming you want 60fps at 1080p), i highly doubt that any games will require 6 cores in the near future since most people will have either dual cores or quad cores (with or without SMT), so you can safely buy ryzen 1400 or even ryzen 3.
