Flawed 6850?

Hi, I have an asus directcu hd 6850 and my problem is that if I overclock this card even if it's just 50Mhz on the gpu clock. I get less fps instead of more and in some cases (nfs most wanted for example), the game directly crashes.

Could someone at least give me a hint?

System specs: Intel Core i5 2400

Gigabyte p67a-ud3-b3

2x4Gb G.Skill sniper 1600Mhz

EVGA SuperNova 750W PSU (80+ bronze)

Overclocking is never guaranteed so getting a return on that basis is going to be hard. But that sounds bad since I put 160MHz on the GPU clock and 150 on the memory without breaking a sweat and mine isn't great compared to what I've seen about.

Check the temps in game at stock and see what you get could be something like the cooler has come unseated and it's overheating.

Also I use furmark/kombuster (for temperature) and unigen loops (to better simulate game loads) as tools to check the overclock is good (games aren't consistent enough with their loading to be of any use).

increase power limit to the max (dont worry card will only take what it can use), give it bit more voltage test again its probably voltage that is causing crashes i get that kinda crashes over 1221 mhz on my 7850 because i cant give more than 1175mv to gpu ALSO it might be memory overclock dont overclock the memory before doing what i suggest then overclock the memory and use furmark to test stabilization

also NFS most wanted has permanent V-Sync.

Do you actually believe that if I have to raise the voltage to do a mild overclock (50mhz is really not much) there is nothing wrong? When you can easily find people doing a much higher overclock without doing anything with the voltage?
