Situation Overview:

The PC in question: https://uk.pcpartpicker.com/user/Broadbent/saved/#view=nNHNGX

Last night my computer was working perfectly. I shut it down as usual and the next day, it didn't start. I disconnected all cables (USB, HDMI etc.) but the power and still nothing. The computer shows no sign of life at this stage. No fans spin, no noise, the power button just does nothing.

I have seen a similar issue to this where the CPU fan spins for a second or so when the PC is powered, however this is not the case. Literally nothing happens.

What I have tried:

  1. Removed RAM and GPU instantly still nothing. (Note: I didn't put them back in for testing)
  2. Tested all internal cable connections to make sure they're all plugged in right.
  3. Jumping the PSU using a paperclip. Fan runs. Even had my LED strip connected and that lit up.
  4. I then used a multimeter to test the voltage output of the 24 pin connector and voltages are present and correct.
  5. Also for good measure I tested the CPU 8-pin power connector and voltages are present and correct.
  6. My next move was to test the case buttons with the multimeter, but that's still outputting a signal.
  7. I have run the computer with only the PSU, Motherboard in (case buttons connected) an still nothing.

I've seen a lot of forum posts that suggest using a motherboard speaker to see what it outputs, however I don't have one and need a quick fix.

I was going to test the mobo, but apparently there is no conclusive way to test it. Except testing all headers and stuff.

Thanks for your time.

have you tried  starting the pc by shorting the power connectors on the motherboard?   also do you have pics and  PC information?

also do any other lights lite up on the motherboard

I'm not sure how to do that. Never done it before. PC specs: https://uk.pcpartpicker.com/user/Broadbent/saved/#view=nNHNGX

No lights on the motherboard.

How old is your PSU? Ok doesn't really matter but, PSUs age with time, they aren't able to keep up their specified power stable.

So as long as the PSU runs without anything drawing power form it, it may look like everything's fine. Then as soon as some usage just for example :"old 520 Watts Bronze" System drawing around 450 watts, all was fine until the day the PSU got old and could provide that much power in a stable kind. Computer froze, refused to start, etc.

If you have another PSU at hand, try that out.

Main System:

Anghammarad : Asrock Taichi x570, AMD Ryzen 7 5800X @4900 MHz. 32 GB DDR4 3600, some NVME SSDs, Gainward Phoenix RTX 3070TI

System 2 "Igluna" AsRock Fatal1ty Z77 Pro, Core I5 3570k @4300, 16 GB Ram DDR3 2133, some SSD, and a 2 TB HDD each, Gainward Phantom 760GTX.

System 3 "Inskah" AsRock Fatal1ty Z77 Pro, Core I5 3570k @4300, 16 GB Ram DDR3 2133, some SSD, and a 2 TB HDD each, Gainward Phantom 760GTX.

On the Road: Acer Aspire 5 Model A515-51G-54FD, Intel Core i5 7200U, 8 GB DDR4 Ram, 120 GB SSD, 1 TB SSD, Intel CPU GFX and Nvidia MX 150, Full HD IPS display

Media System "Vio": Aorus Elite AX V2, Ryzen 7 5700X, 64 GB Ram DDR4 3200 Mushkin, 1 275 GB Crucial MX SSD, 1 tb Crucial MX500 SSD. IBM 5015 Megaraid, 4 Seagate Ironwolf 4TB HDD in raid 5, 4 WD RED 4 tb in another Raid 5, Gainward Phoenix GTX 1060

(Abit Fatal1ty FP9 IN SLI, C2Duo E8400, 6 GB Ram DDR2 800, far too less diskspace, Gainward Phantom 560 GTX broken need fixing)

Nostalgia: Amiga 1200, Tower Build, CPU/FPU/MMU 68EC020, 68030, 68882 @50 Mhz, 10 MByte ram (2 MB Chip, 8 MB Fast), Fast SCSI II, 2 CDRoms, 2 1 GB SCSI II IBM Harddrives, 512 MB Quantum Lightning HDD, self soldered Sync changer to attach VGA displays, WLAN
