I've used just about every psu calculator I can find and most say that, for my build at least, 750 should be plenty. It's only until I use ASUS' calculator do i become concerned. Says I need a min of 700W. I'm considering upping my PSU to an RM 1000 just to be ready to SLI in the future. For now, should I be concerned? My build is:

  • 4670k @ 4.4GHz
  • Motherboard
    Asus Maximus VI Hero
  • RAM
    2x4GB Kingston HyperX Blu
  • GPU
Asus GTX 780 Directcu II at around 1200MHz core / 1100 MHz Mem
  • Case
    Corsair 300R
  • Storage
    1x OCZ Vertex 4 256GB, 1x Samsung EVO 500GB, 1x WD Green 2TB
  • PSU
    Corsair RM 750 Gold
  • Display(s)
    BENQ XL2420TE / Asus VS247H-P
  • Cooling
    Noctua NH-U9B x2 fans, 2x Noctua 140mm, 3x Noctua 120mm
  • Keyboard
    Logitech G710+
  • Mouse
    Razer Deathadder 2013

A good 550w would be plenty as is. A good 750w will be enough for sli.

I do question your parts list though....blue ram with red mobo.... <_< (unless you have the red version--still weird imo. The heatsink doesn't cover the top.)

750 W may be overkill but leaves room for upgrade so you may go with the 750 W flavour !

Hah. I originally built a computer in a BitFenix case and this ram matched my previous mobo perfectly, but then I had issues. So I got an ASUS mobo and a Corsair case to replace faulty parts (pain in the ass trying to get everything into a mini itx build just right, then to do it all over? shrug. Wanted future expandibility...) Doesn't really matter anyway, my Noctua cooler covers them lol.

Thanks, all for the suggestions!
