Hey,

I've decided to replace my old CM Elite 430 Case and CM GX750W PSU, mostly because the PSU is pretty loud and the case has pretty bad cable management options. I've chosen Corsair RM750x 750W and FD DEFINE C BLACK WINDOW. Can you guys give me your opition about these two items or suggest me something in that price range or cheaper? I'll be using these two with the components in my signature.

Both are great.

The RM750x is a very quiet PSU, where the fan doesn't even spin up under low loads. It's also modular and has cables with capacitors to reduce ripple. The FD Define c is also wonderful, it's got a lot of cable management space and is very compact for a ATX case. It's also sound isolated, if that was a concern.

If the RM750i is only $7 more than the RM750x, the benefit from going with the RMi is Corsair Link (monitoring capability), switchable single rail (convenience) / multi-rail (added protection) mode, and a higher quality FDB fan.

Between the two, I would say getting the RMi is well worth the money if it's only a $7 difference; however, this discussion may be irrelevant depending on your location, as regional pricing / availability may be different.

Also, your system can be powered on a quality 550w. Do you have plans to SLI in the future? If not, you could save some money by going with the RM550x, RM650i (doesn't come in 550w), EVGA Supernova 550 G2 / P2, Bitfenix Whisper 550M, etc.

@Ethocreeper, I just checked and the stores near me don't offer the RMi, just the RMx.

@quan289, I'm not planning on SLI, but I'll probably swap that ancient GTX 470 with something more up to date :) The only reason I chose the 750W was that the 650W model was just 10$ cheaper and I thought that the higher wattage will ensure lower usage % so it will keep the fan not spinning, but that's just my logic and I'm not 100% sure that PSU works that way :D

The fan will spin dependent on heat and not necessary system load. I'd save a few bucks and buy the 650W personally.

My account is almost entirely dormant. Hope you all are having a grand time. Many years of fun were had here.

RM750x was out of stock so I followed your advice and got the 650W one and FD Define C. I'm happy with the results - noise level decreased significantly and coil whine disappeared. Cable management can't even be compared to my old case :)

Thank you all!
