Streaming PC upgrades? (GPU or other?)

Get a gpu den.

As the title suggests, I'm looking to upgrade the computer I use for streaming. My problem is with Playerunknown's battlegrounds as of right now. While streaming (Using x264 and NVENC) I'm getting random frame drops on OBS, while my GPU is under 100% load, and CPU is at about 65% load.

Should I just upgrade the GPU and use NVENC?

Current specs:

CPU: i7-6700k (Stock)

GPU: GTX 760 2GB (OC to 1200Mhz)

RAM: 16GB DDR3 1600Mhz

Motherboard: Asus B150M-A D3

Storage: 500GB WD + 2TB seagate + 3TB WD Hub

PSU: OCZ evoStream 600w

Dude, gpu is a bit dated.  Get a 1060, 1070 or 1080/ rx 580

I don't think the actual GPU is the problem since the encoder is a seperate chip...

The best upgrade you can do is a better GPU. Even a 960 SSC would do you good (like in my setup), but I would recommend a 1060 with NVENC if you really wanted to take advantage of your setup.

I'm assuming the 900 series can still do NVENC as well? If so I might go for a 970 since its about the same price as a 1050 Ti with better performance.

In that case, get a r5 1600 or r7 1700.  IMO get a better gpu first though

Want to custom loop?  Ask me more if you are curious

Probably will go for the GPU upgrade. I got a steal of a deal on the CPU and RAM not too long ago (Only paid $150 US for the CPU and RAM) so I'm reluctant to sell it so quickly.

Yes, and very well. I currently use a GTX 960 SSC (which I overclocked the hell out of) but a 970 should do you good.

Why should he downgrade to a Ryzen chip? All benchmarks show that Ryzen isn't even comparable to Intel chips, yet AMD charges tons for them.

The cluster of false assumptions in this statement are ridiculous. R7/r5 1600 chips have been proven to beat a 7700k every time when it comes to streaming.  In terms of gaming performance you get a slightly lower maximum frames with a massively better minimum frames, ie a smoother experience.

On top of that Ryzen wins at video editing etc. AND it cost LESS than equivalent intel chips.

Arlight.

Just to not make a new thread, What would you recommend around the $150 mark? I'm okay with used which is why I'm thinking GTX 970

Okay. No need to get heated here.

When it comes to single core, IPC performance, Intel wins.

When it comes to heavy multi threaded workloads like streaming or videoencoding/videoediting, Ryzen wins.

I will also agree that if someone is building a rig from scratch, I would tell them to go with ryzen at many price levels right now.
