CAN'T DOWNLOAD WINDOWS 7

Ok so in another post I asked how to transfer my windows 7 onto a new hdd off my laptop hdd and I got some people saying to install it as normal then when it asked for a code use the activate by phone or whatever but the problem is, to download the windows 7 installer you need to have a not used activation code for windows 7 but as I said before I don't even have enough money for the last part for the PC yet let alone a new OS, can someone please tell me what I can do?

well I don't have enough money to buy it from anywhere (yes I am a broke cheapskate) nor do I have a job since I am only 14 and I was planning to upgrade from windows 7 to windows 10 for free when I switch computers

You had Windows 7 on the laptop, which means there must have been a license key on it somewhere.  Just use that

No key can be used in multiple places at once, but it's not used anywhere currently so that should be fine.  Beyond that consideration, there are two kinds of licenses - ones tied to the PC (yours is probably this) and ones you can freely move around an reuse elsewhere (again, subject to only being used on 1 PC at a time though).  That said, I've heard people have had good luck in the past moving licenses of the former variety when they call in.

 

Regardless it should be enough to let you download the installer though.  Also, it is worth noting that even now, well after the "deadline", you can install and activate Windows 10 with a 7 or 8.1 key.

I had the same problem. Your not allowed to download Windows 7 with a OEM key (the one on your laptop). It's in the FAQ.

so what do I do? I don't have any money left for an os and I am still trying to get enough for a mini pcie to pcie adapter for wifi

They did it to minus even more Windows 7 users...

Your only option is to download Windows 7 from somewhere else, or to use Windows 10, as Windows 10 will activate with that key.

well the other kinda bad thing is my laptop is kinda  old and I kinda can't tell what two of the characters are, is there anyway to tell in the computer it's self? (in the software)

If you are reinstalling on same laptop, use manufacturers install media. Those are easiest and will have drivers included. They have bunch of bloatware too, but you can uninstall those later. You can get just ISO's from various torrent sites. Yes, even those without the illegal stuff.

 

If you are trying to use key on another PC, well that won't work. You can use all Windows versions 30-90 days for free. Win10 even longer if you don't mind watermark and limited customization. Or extended spying. Then there are all the linux distro's which can do almost everything what Windows does.

I just noticed that. I'll be more clear of my links next time. Don't want to look like I sell drugs;).

The link was ProduKey. It looks kind of depreciated, as the window looks like a Windows 2000 one.

Looks like that tool just tells you your own product code, so I don't see any harm in that.  It's not like a keygen or something

I guess, but I need to be more upfront. I don't want to freak people out from trusting me. I'm here to try to help people, not to freak them out.

Horror movies are there for that task...
