I dont know about x79 but things that you should be careful of: TEMPERATURE! Basically when you overclock you increase the frequency of the CPU, and in x79 i think you increase the multiplier, specially since you have a K series cpu.

The more you increase the multiplier the more Voltage you need to give to the CPU so that it can be stable, but when you do that, the temperature of the cpu increases. So dont pump 1.4v on your cpu lol Since its the temp that will kill your cpu if its too high and decrease its longevity.

Dont know if you have checked this but here is Linus in one of his NCIX tech tips where he shows how to OC a 3960x which has the same procedure

Would I use the exactly same voltages and suff?

No because every chip is different by try boosting up the Base Clock, see when it becomes unstable, then push up the voltage a bit, monitor temps then repeat

You can see when the chip becomes unstable when it just fails to boot, or if it does succeed then by running prime 95

Thanks man, I think I will rather not do it by myself right now.

I appreciate your help so much!

No problem! And i understand that though, if you are overclocking for the first time a 600$ CPU then id be real careful but as long as your temps are within limits then its fine
