My WiFi connection has always been inconsistent.

Just to clear things up, moving the router, moving my PC, going wired or buying something else is something I want to avoid...buying something else is something I will do if I really have to though.

I am a fair distance away from my router so that is why my connection is poor.

I was looking at Wireless Network Adapter Properties and was wondering if something here could help.

Anything in there properties I should change that could help?

If you're far away from your access point nothing in there will strengthen the connection. You'll need a WiFi card with stronger range and sensitivity.

Fuck I had a feeling that was the case.

If only my step-father would let me run my 30m Ethernet cable all under the carpets -.-

Have you tried a power line adapter?

This adapter is relatively cheap and has good sensitivity if using 2.4GHz 802.11b/g/n also to note check your wireless router settings. In the router it specifies how strong the signal is. Usually this setting is maxed by default but maybe it's not in your case. See if the router can increase the strength of the signal.

Also does the house belong to your step-father? If not I'd tell him to go suck a RAM stick and I'd do it anyways.

Never even heard of them so no I have not.

look into it.

basically it allows you to run a Ethernet connection though the ground wires of your home. you plug one in the wall by the router and connect it, and another by the pc and connect it. latency is better then wifi and speed is about half of Ethernet on average.

So with my 61mbps download I would be getting 30mbps ish with a better latency?

Sounds like a good idea.

Just started watching a video by JayzTwoCents about these powerline adapters now

most I seen are 500Mbps connections, the one I linked is 1000Mbps (full Ethernet speed)

Ethernet is rated for 1000Mbps

That sucks. In my parents house they let me outfit the entire house with Cat5e. Even managed to sneak a 10Gbit fiber-optic cable to my bedroom.

Also I forgot to tell you the wireless adapter name: ASUS PCE-N15 $25 on Newegg. Worked great for me.
