@BudgetBoy For an OS drive, yes, an SSD is definitely an upgrade even thought it will most certainly be bottlenecked. You don't get the full read/write throughput for large files, but it's still great for randon I/O tasks at low queue depths an OS would perform.

sata is backwards compatible, even on sata 2 everything that involves the drive will be faster, and unless you're constantly transferring large files to your drive through a faster means than sata 2 can manage you'll only notice how much faster a glorious ssd is than a hdd

Yes,Yes,No,Even sata 3 considered to be a bottleneck but it doesnt affect us on real world scenarios unless u are a real speed demon if thats the case u'll need an NVME,Yes.

Yes, an SSD is significantly faster. Check the link I posted for more info. If you want to keep your current motherboard, just get a cheap SSD of a capacity that suits you and you're set.

I've ran an 840 EVO on a P55 board with an i7 870 and an SSD is miles faster in everything than a HDD.

Feels snappier, loads faster, etc

(only supports SATA2)

idk
