I have had an XFX HD7770 for a couple months now, and I haven't been able to figure out why, but in many of the games I play, there is static on the screen. Picture your old box tv, and what would happen if you went to a non-existent channel. I have pretty much the same thing except only white dots like that. If anyone knows what I am talking about and/or how I can fix it, please help. I have tried re-installing my graphics driver, as well as testing both the beta and current versions with no success.

I don't know what the problem is, and the severity of it greatly depends in games, going from horribly crappy to no problems at all.

Thanks for your help.

I am in fact using VGA right now, and the rest of my machine is as follows:

Intel Pentium G850

MSI H61 P31M

Corsair CX500

Corsair Vengeance 8 gb (1 stick)

500 gb HDD (that I can't remember the brand of, but it is most likely WD)

EDIT:

In a Fractal Core 1000 if you care...

Well your Dual Core CPU is a little bit older but shouldn't be a problem.

The PSU looks just right for this kind of system with a HD7770. I've tried that card myself a while ago and it is one hell of a budget card, it's really good.

I think there are two likely possibilities at this point.

First of all try to conncet your system to a DVI or HDMI output and run the rig for a while. If gone you know why VGA as analog signal is out dated hehe ;) . TIPP: If you don not posses a monitor with a DVI/HDMI connect it to your TV ;) .

If not you might have a damaged GPU and what I would do in that case first, I'd put the card if possible in another rig to try it. If you live in the US you can also go to BB and let them try, because they do that (in case you ain't got nobody around you with a compatible machine).

No problem, just let us know if you were successful :) .

But you have a HDMI right?

All you gotta do is take an HDMI cable and get an adapter from HDMI to DVI and it works. Digital to digital is no problem.

I actually have a VGA to DVI adapter, although I seem to remember it not working with this machine for whatever reason. In addition to there being two VGA outputs and one HDMI, there also seems to be an unknown type of output as well. I will see if I can convince my parents to order an HDMI to DVI cable...

Well the one that you can't identify seems to be a mini display port. And to test this isn't that hard. If your parents own a newer gen TV you can take the HDMI cable off it for your try.

Just put the HDMI without an Adapter from your rig into the TV and run the system... and just as a reminder hehe this is just an advice... please don't piss off your parents because of me lol :) .

Looking at MSI's website, I now notice that there is a "VGA Driver." I have been having a variety of problems which I always seem to source to the fact that I never used any of the install discs that came with the components (i.e. LAN Driver). I wonder if the "VGA Driver" could solve anything? I previously avoided it because I assumed that since my VGA was working I didn't need it.

Thanks for your help!

I run little to no risk of angering my parents with any of that kind of stuff because I set everything up anyway xD they usually ask ME for help.
