I was looking to upgrade my computer from a 3570K (running at 4,5Ghz) to either a 7700K or 7600K. Would it be worth it? Would I gain anything performance wise? From the information I can find there doesn't seem much to gain besides possibly the extra cores in the i7.. anyone?

Edit: I'm currently running a strix 1070oc.. mainly using the pc for gaming and some lighter video editing..

you would be getting ~35% ipc increase

recommend zen for extra cores.

Unless youre pushing a 1080ti, don't do it.

Ryzen 5 3600 stock | 2x16GB C13 3200MHz (AFR) | GTX 760 (Sold the VII)| ASUS Prime X570-P | 6TB WD Gold (128MB Cache, 2017)

Samsung 850 EVO 240 GB

138 is a good number.

It depends what you are using it for. If you are using heavily multi-threaded application, you would likely gain a significant amount of performance from the extra threads offered by a hyper threaded quad core. If you are not, the amount you would gain from switching to a similarly specced CPU like the 7600k, but with newer architecture, hugely depends on the optimisation of the applications you are using the CPU with for said architecture.
