I am just wanting to do cinematography and photography as a hobby. I currently have a Canon Rebel XT and while it still takes decent photos it does not help with my other interest. I am currently saving up I was just kinda wanting some outside input. If you have a suggestion that wasn't on my small list let me know.

You are going about this wrong. You said you have a Canon camera already, what glass do you have (I assume you must have an 18-55 at least, which makes the purchase of a kit with it wasteful).

What style of cinematography do you want to do, what will be your subject (mostly)? What is your budget (Like the absolute maximum you can spend)

I assume from your list, 4k is not a concern and FHD is enough.

What I would probably do is, keep the 18-55 you have with your camera already, sell the body for as much as you can and get a 750d (don't know what it is in Murican) and maybe a 50mm 1.8 STM or the 10-18mm, depending on what your use might be.

I would also try to get a body only deal from ebay for as cheap as I can.

I just used the first link I found. If I went with the canon I would most likely go body only because I do have a few lenses. I want to do some time lapses and maybe some fun skits with my friends from time to time.

Well what lenses do you have and what is your budget? The Sony kit you linked is for 750$... Also, you should consider that there are some pretty knowledgeable people here that could recommend better options than the ones you suggested at a similar budget.

I don't want to go over $1500 realistically. I have 18-55mm and 55-250mm lenses for the canon as well as an external flash. The Sony is just one that I have used before and it had 2 lenses for a good price.

There are 2 ways you can go right now.

One is selling everything you have and going with the Sony/Panasonic/Fuji route, however, the a6000 is not worth considering. It would be far better to go with the a6500 and a 16-50mm lens on even get some cheap legacy glass in ebay with a cheap manual adapter until you can afford something more worthwhile, (the 16-50mm may be the worse kit lens out there.)

I would personally look at the x-t20 (if the 10 min video  in 4k and 15 min FHD is not problem to you). The X-t2 is a better choice, but its too expensive. Instead of the Sony system. I would go for the x-t20 and 18-55mm f/2.8-4.0 and perhaps a cheap fast prime like the 35 f/2. I would also consider going with a cheaper, used x-t1, which is still pretty capable, spend on glass and wait for the next iteration and buy it if its worthwhile.

The other thing is stick with Canon. Now, the glass you have isn't so much to consider that you are too heavily invested, but it is still more than nothing. I would go for a used 750d or 70d if you can afford it and buy something like a 10-22mm f3.5-4.5. That is one of the best crop lenses you can get on Canon. Also, a 50mm 1.8 STM. If the glass costs too much, I wouldn't mind even going with a used 700d and get the glass personally, even though the 3 shouldn't cost much more than 1100$.

Now, the reason I recommend that is that at some point in the near future, 2-3 years, Canon will probably grace us with a 4k Capable rebel or crop camera, so I would amass the glass, get a body that can cover what is absolutely necessary and then upgrade once something becomes available.

Personally, I'm not sure what I'd do in you place. I like the fuji system for its size and feel and Canon because its overall more practical and there is a larger glass selection, which is also cheaper and even a well established used market. The Sony is also a good camera, the best out of the 3 right now on paper actually, however I don't like the system, lenses are too expensive and there isn't that much choice right now.

I would probably go Canon, because I could get more value now and would be able to get an even better result in the future when I need it.

You will notice I speak a lot about investing in a system rather than a body, that is because bodies get refreshed all the time, features are added etc. Glass however, is the most important aspect of the system you buy and has a much longer life cycle.

Thank you so much, I will see what is around in a used 700d. Since I already have a canon plus I can also get canon lenses on a pretty good price!

I would look at the 2 I spoke about and after that, I would maybe consider replacing the 18-55mm with the 17-55mm f/2.8 from Canon. A 70d with that sort of glass is quite the combination.
