Hello,

Here the deal , currently i have been running an amd phenom 2 x4 955 be and a gts 450 for many years now. I have finally gotten the money to upgrade my pc. The thing is that the new parts i wanna buy need to last for some years as it will be impossible for me to upgrade soon.

I use my pc for gaming , games like bf4 ,crysis 3 etc , and sometimes encoding videos

I will be buying the parts on amazon.co.uk.

My budget is 800 pound for 3 components : the cpu , the board and the gpu

I am thinking of getting the
i7 4770k
Nvidia GTX 780
for board either an asus maximus vi hero  or an asrock extreme 4 ???

what are your views on these three parts

i have a silverstone RL02 case
Power supply: silverstone gold evolution 750 watt

8 gb of corsair 1600mhz ram

Your help would greatly be appreciated.

The CPU is good, but about the GPU if you wasn't it to last 3years i would recommend either waiting for the 790 (if it ever Will be released) or something like the TITAN. And about the mobos i would go for the Asus one ;)

Why titan? the 780Ti is faster and cheaper?

Dont get an ROG board. You won't see any kind of performance boost or longevity increase. Unless you need the PCIe lanes lanes don't buy it (and even then there are better alternatives).

Ignore what he said.

If you are mostly into gaming you should get an i5 4670k. No difference in gaming performance, and still good for some video encoding. Also, the 780 at 1080p is gonna last you a very long time. If it's within your budget, you could grab the 780 ti instead. It's also faster than the TITAN and much cheaper.

EDIT: Get the hero.

No the TITAN has 2688 cuda cores, the 780TI has all 2880 cuda cores.

The 6g ram will not be helpful for his uses, he is just single 1080p gaming.

I understand, my brother is the same way. I assume that means you recommend the 780Ti?

Or the 290x

For his budget, the 780Ti makes more sense.

The 780 Ti is a bad value. The Titan is as well for gaming.

Are you limited to amazon?

True. If he needs the performance then 780Ti if not go for the 780 to save money.
