Hello there,

A couple of months ago I built my first PC. My specs are listed below. Everything worked great until now:

Yesterday I was enjoying some high quality youtube videos and all of a sudden my PC shut down. At first I thought it was a power outage, but then  I noticed my screen was still turned on and displayed a "no signal message".

Whenever I turn my PC on now, it doesn't boot. My screen just keeps displaying that no signal was found. This accompanied by the following signs:

1. All my LEDs turn on (Kraken x41 (in the correct colour: red), my LED RAM, my motherboards LEDs and my RGB perfi.

2. While the powerbutton itself turns the PC on, the red LED inside of the button is not working. The button just stays dimmed.

3. My motherboard has something called an "EZ debug LED". These LEDs are supposed to light up when a part fails or is not connected. The EZ debug CPU LED is lit when I turn on my PC.

4. All my fans connected to the motherboard are not spinning after I turn the pc on. All my molex fans are however.

In the video I added as an attachment you can see some of the signs listed above and maybe some more.

I've already tried:

1. Switching from GPU to intergrated graphics

2. Resetting the BIOS by removing the CMOS battery for approx. 5 minutes and then trying to boot the PC.

Both of these things haven't worked.

I would greatly appreciate any help you people can give me. It's kind of a bummer that my PC has already "died" on me.

Kind regards,

Alexander

oh shit my bad

How were your CPU temps the last few months while you had it running. I see you have it liquid cooled,

did the pump etc. work fine?

If for whatever reason you CPU has failed would you be able to contact Intel Support and see if you can get it RMA'd?

My temps were most of the time great, often below 30 degrees celcius, maybe even 20 when it was really cold in my room. I had the CAM software installed. I was not aware of the temps before my PC shut off, but I'm almost certain they were okay. First of all there was no reason for them to be any different and second of all, my software would most probably have given me a warning.

I could in fact probably RMA it. I'm not sure if they give me a new one, however, since CPU's rarely fail. That's also why I somehow doubt it's a CPU issue.

Yea CPUs have low failure rates - but shit does happen

I would generally trust the Debug LED

Before taking steps to RMA it try this:
1. Take out the GPU

2. Take out one stick of ram

3. take out your SSD

4. try booting to see if you can at least get to the bios

Alright, so I consulted a friend of mine who workes in IT and he had the following problem/question with/about the dead CPU scenario:

Is it logical that, if the CPU were to be dead, the motherboard fans won't spin? This might indicate PSU failure according to him.

If you ask me it's just because the BIOS can't boot without CPU, but maybe I'm wrong. I would like to hear you opinion on that.

Kind regards.

But, as @mok said, "trust the Debug LED". Mine has never lied to me. The CPU may have had a fault when it left the factory and I think they usually come with a warranty of a couple of years, so you may be able to get a replacement under warranty.

UPDATE:

I mailed the store I bought the CPU from an ARM request. I figured I'd try to turn on my PC one more time to make sure it was still broken before I was going to take  the CPU out and send it to them. To my suprise the PC actually worked just fine, except for the fact that the BIOS was back to factory conditions (something I did by removing the Motherboard Battery).

Does anyone have any idea what could have caused this problem? It's great that my PC works again all of a sudden, but I guess it's not supposed to have boot issues that suddenly dissapear.

Does anyone have any clue what the cause could have been so that I can make sure it will not happen again?

Kind regards,

Alexander
