Yes the 100 skew is for Skylake and it compatible with the 200 series and the same with the 100 series with Kabylake but a BIOS update is needed so you need a Skylake chip to do the bios update

Depends on manufacturer, but some MoBos has this function built in. I suggest you look up ASRock's manual/guides. Manufacturers usually have a very solid explanation of the process.

The new Asrock Mobos usually offer the funktion inside the UEFI Bios. Life Update. Even my old Z77 Pro got this =)
