Hey guys. First off, I am sorry if this has been posted before. I tried searching both on google and forum, but couldn't find a post with it.

I am looking for a list of notes regarding building a system. I've built a few computers by now, so it's not that i need an in-depth explaination, i know how it works. I just need a check-list to be sure that i don't forget anything. Since my builts are far between, i tend to forget things as what order to put stuff into the case is best, what different terms (like chipset names) mean and generally small tweaks that are easy to make but hard to remember every time.
Does anyone have a link to a list of this sort?

Yeah but i've noticed that some of the build logs contain small tech tips that others don't. Also i'd like a list i can refer to, when building to optimize my workflow. Even though Linus has done very watchable build guides, i wanna know if there's any sort of  checklist anywhere. Sorta like an organised tech tips-list. Otherwise i'll just watch through his videos and take notes. Will work just fine :)

Every builder has their own methods and steps they take that they develop after a few builds. But the best way to learn is to watch some videos online.

The only pointers I would like to give are to install CPU/Ram before putting the motherboard in the case (CPU heatsink too if it's not going to get in the way of any motherboard mounting holes) and do an approximate routing and tie down of your front panel connectors and fan cables before putting anything else in the case. I've always found it easier to keep cables tidier that way.

Thanks. This is the kind of things i was looking for for my notes!

Depends on the builder. Watching Carey Holzman on youtube is nice because he has the same workflow each and every time and goes over it. Videos are a bit long and they aren't as structured as other builder's videos though.

If you want a quick video that shows a computer build front to back with close ups that don't miss anything, Austin has some nice ones for 2012 and 2013: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tPHCBWayEsY

If you ever need help with a build, read the following before posting: http://linustechtips.com/main/topic/3061-build-plan-thread-recommendations-please-read-before-posting/

Mobo's size => case size = obvious.

But other mobo size can also mean other positions for power connector cables = PSU cable length might get a problem

To add to the lenth is possible, but then the PSU might deliver less power... (length of the cabe and additional contacts, that can be a lessenig reason, depeniding on quality and same standards in form).

CPU cooler size often clashes with RAM height, sometimes with mobo cooling blocks

First PCIe slot position often clashes with either RAM mounting thingies and/or CPU cooler

Cable management design should allow high air flow, creating a kind of fan form (like the Asians often use on hot days) can help or hinder, depending if you block the air flow or change it 90°

PSU length PLUS cable contacts PLUS a kind of angle to bow the cables need space, check dimensions

PSU cable length differ

PSU - OEM partner change, quality changes... look for respected PSU reviewers. I think JonnyGuru (spelling?) could be one

Here they add rather many review sources, even added translation links...

CPU cooler height might clash with case dimensions

Check reviews about noise... too and some seem to be rather difficult to mount (see Linus last cooler review about be quiet! Shadow Rock 2

GGU lenght might clash with case dimensions

Enogh HDD / SDD thingies?

Optical Drive

Fan control... Front bay?

direction of input and output cooling PSU, GPU, CPU cooler

The so much loved small cases often do not allow for upgrades - I prefer very big cases with lots of space and air-flow

Display connectors, audio, WiFi, LAN, many many details.....
