Hello, hope you all doing well.

I am trying to build a new PC strictly for Gaming/Editing.(Mostly High-end 4k gaming). First of all, I am quite a dummy when it comes to hardware choice, all the information I have is based on Linus videos and some forum posts. To keep it short, money is not an issue here, but also, I don't wanna spend thousands on a piece like CPU and later on figure out a much cheaper one would give me a much better results. I wanna build something that will last at least for the next 3 years, that's why I tried to choose the best available hardware. This is the current build I have in mind :

As you can see I left some of the pieces empty for now,

CPU:

Do you think 6950X is a bit of overkill for 4k gaming? is i7 better for gaming compare to i5? I checked out couple of forums and they all seem to suggest 7700k cpu which is much a cheaper piece, but also there are posts complainign about 770k overheating due to intel using poor thermal paste. Do you think I should save a lot of money by switching to a cheaper CPU and instead adding an extra GPU for the sake of better performance ? or should I go with 6950X?

GPU:

I want to buy a 1080TI GPU but I can't decide which one of these should I pick? I heard a lot about MSI being the best current choice for gamers, but how about that one less fan compare to other costume GPUs, I personally have a bad experience with GIGABYTE GPUs, but again would be nice to hear what Pros think. Should I consider VGA water cooling in price of losing the guarantee?

Memory:

I watched Linus videos about RAM and after that I was completely lost, seems like spending money on rams is pretty much pointless. ََA friend of mine is suggesting me this Ram :

590b1ef101745_Screenshot(22).png.04846a1313c4a73386616ae18d913113.png

Does the Frequency matter for gaming? should it be higher or lower? are they all compatible with my other hardware, I know Max Memory Size 128 GB is possible with my i7-6950X Processor, are there other parameters that should be taken into consideration? for instance, are these two rams better or worse than the ram I mentioned above for gaming/editing videos:

If you have any idea in mind, regarding the other pieces that I did not mention, please feel free to share them with me, and also thank you so much for spending time reading this.

If you're going all out a 6950x would naturally be THE CPU but a 1700 is less than 1/5th the cost and will give you 70% of the performance of the 6950x in editing and nearly the same performance in gaming.

EDIT: And in apps that can be CUDA accelerated the difference will be even smaller.

if possible you might want to avoid the NZXT one, the CAM software is really buggy sometimes and forces your fans to run at least 800-900rpm which is annoying when you wnat your system to be silent in idle.

the kraken x62 is one of the best aio coolers on the market period and looks the best by far, i changed out then nzxt fans on my x61 and use noctuas.

but @SinaLTT if you dont plan on using this pc for anything but gaming, i would opnely suggest you get the 7700k and save yourself a lot of money.

as for which 1080ti its all preference, i personally love msi gpus, they look amazing, i also like the new evga ones.

Ryzen is the better option as he is also doing editing. At 4K resolution the gap is very tiny.

Here you go: https://pcpartpicker.com/list/wQHBHN

This should be prefect for what you want to use it for, if necessary, the motherboard supports 2 way sli so you can add another 1080ti.

Just some odd tidbits I did not realize until recently. The 6950x, though it is the best non dual Xeon solution for rendering, it is surpassed by the 6700k, both stock and OC'd gaming wise. This puts it 4 or 5th in game performance. The 1700x and 1800x are both only about 5% slower in games as an OC'd 6950x, and about roughly the 10%-15% rendering (It's when doing 4 or more processes at a time where the 6950x shines; ie. playing, streaming, rendering, discord, windows with multiple tabs, and uploading all at once). It's an awesome top notch processor, but $1700 compared to $349 or $429? IDK if it's worth it.

As for the ti. The AORUS is still the best, and all the benchmarks prove it. Since it already comes out of the box with the 150% power draw, a cooling solution made for it (which is also very quiet), it just seems the obvious choice. As someone mentioned, since so many aps give you the option of have the gpu handle most of the rendering, a 10 hour job can turn into an hour long one (Well, bad comparison. A 3 hour job on a 6950x would turn into a 1.5 hour job).

If you want great gaming and Pixar quality creation potential, then the 6950x is the best you can get without going into the $15K price point, which is nuts. Let a company pay for that. It's the best hybrid consumer chip you can buy. It's not as fast as a 7700k, 6900k, or 6700k for gaming, but smokes them all on the creation side (as does the 1800x Ryzen).

Creation and gaming, full bore, 6950x. Save $1300 and get a Ryzen 1800x. Save $1400 and get a 1700x. With the power of a good ti backing it, the difference will be negligible at worst should you choose Ryzen in both gaming and rendering/multitasking. If you choose anything but the 6950x from the consumer Intel line, the rendering/multitasking difference will readily apparent.

There is enough youth in this world, how about a fountain of smart?

the single thread performance of amd cpus is still not the best. Also most coolers dont have the new mounting brackets yet for the new plattform

Getting an AM4 bracket isn't difficult. The likes of Corsair, Noctua, BeQuiet and Cryorig etc all have them. Also if it is anything like the UK most pc stores will also stock the bracket.
