can anyone recommend a good portrait lens for sony a6500. I wont be using it proffessionally or earning money from it. Just for some casual portraits.I know zeiss has 50mm f1.4 and 55mm f1.8 but i think they are costly for casual use so will sony 50mm f1.8 be good?

The Sony 50mm f1.8 is good. It's about $250. It's a little tight since it's on a crop and makes a good upper body kinda lens. The sigma 30mm f1.4 is also good. It's about $330. Both are very sharp and work great. If your looking for full body I've used the 18-105 stopped down to f8 to f13 and gotten great shots at the beach

The Sigma 30 1.4 and the Sony 35 1.8 are great options on the A6500. Personally I'm not so fond of the FOV the 50 1.8 gives on a cropped body. The Sigma 60 2.8 is a good option too that is slightly longer. Behaves kinda like an 85 would on a full frame.

Yeah but how's the bokeh on 35mm?

It's as good. I've read on all your topics. All the ones I have listed are very well suited for casual use and can produce some really good images. Don't worry that much of the bokeh, it won't magically make an image good. And with a much shallower DOF from a faster lens it will be so much harder to focus. And you said you would do things like livestream and in that case you won't even shoot at f/1.8. More like at f/4. The bokeh is related to how long the lens is, how close your subject/background is and how fast your lens is. You can get nice bokeh out of the kit lens if you really want to in some circumstances.

And as you said its your first camera its probably not that wise to drop 1500USD on a lens that is 1 stop faster than a 300USD one. (Now there is more improvements than it being faster but it seems like that is the only thing you are intersted about so)
