Blue Snowball Help

Hey guys i recently (2 months ago) bought a blue snowball and i'm having some issues with it. For some reason my Microphone is really quiet and i have to turn its sensitivity to max for my friends to be able to hear me well over skype, but turning it up really degrades the microphone quality. Can anyone help me? I have also tried recording myself so i know its not skype or my other comms software.

How close are you to it when talking?

You should have the mic near your mouth. If you can't fit it infront of you on the desk, you can get an swivel/swing arm mic stand or a regular mic stand with a boom arm.
