I'm looking for a new computer to replace my old one. It will be used primarily for gaming (light) and sorting my photo's and such. aka family use xD

My old setup: i5-3570k, 8GB, Asus Maximus V Gene, 970 GTX

The old computer will be used by my daughter with a budget GPU. Or i might get a 1070 :)

Now for the new computer i am looking at using the following components:

  • i5-7600, right now looking at prices in The Netherlands it is the best price performance for me vs Ryzen.
  • 16 GB RAM. Lightroom eats up RAM so why not.
  • 250GB OS SSD. and i'll transfer the 512 GB SSD from my old computer.
  • Small case with window. This will sit on my desk and i want it to be pretty. Atm looking at the Fractal Mini C with window.
  • Motherboard: ASRock B250M Pro4. Because... its pretty
  • Cooling: I was thinking about a corsair H80i just for the looks. So i do not have a big heatsink. I will not be overclocking so performance is not a big issue for me.
  • LED lightning, prob a small ring white. CBA with RGB. It will be for the looks and a light source so i'm not on the complete dark when gaming at night. (daddy hours)

I do not need this to be top of the line (hence no i7) and with this i see i'm roughly in the sub 1000 Euro which is a good price point for me. (and my wife wont kill me)

I have 0 experience with closed loop systems. So any input on that will be appreciated. Or a small air cooler thats good too?

PS. Also looking for a fun case for my daughters computer (mATX) as the old one is broken and bit to big. I'm also going to rebuild it with her (8 year old), that will be fun :)

Why get a new i5 when you already have an unlocked one? Doesn't make sense to me.

Make sure to quote me or tag me when responding to me, or I might not know you replied! Examples:

And make sure you do it by hitting the quote button at the bottom left of my post, and not the one inside the editor!

Buy whatever product is best for you, not what product is "best" for the market.

Interested in computer architecture? Still in middle or high school? P.M. me!

I love computer hardware and feel free to ask me anything about that (or phones). I especially like SSDs. But please do not ask me anything about Networking, programming, command line stuff, or any relatively hard software stuff. I know next to nothing about that.

I already detailed that in my post. A: My little girl is getting the old computer. B: I will not overclock the new CPU (non K)

But i see i made a typo. I was looking at the i5-7600 not the i5-7500.

I have overclocked the i5-3570K in the past. But in the end stability issues made me drop back to stock speeds.

my bad, didn't see that part.

What specific apps are you gonna be using? You mentioned lightroom and that you'll be gaming but is there anything else?

Didn't add an SSD but got a 1070 in there. Add RGB stuff for a few euros. Don't see the point for another 250gb if you already have 512gb but idk, maybe you need the extra space.

If you need an SSD I'd look at this one:

*Snip

I'm getting some white ram sticks and the EVGA 1070 also with the white. Think this will work out nicely :)

Got a wee bit more budget so getting both the SSD and the 1070. And i want 2 because most my games like World of Warcarft, GTA V and others are BIG. Like 40GB+
